K2 SMART Life was established in 2019 by Dr Kunal Kothari and Dr Kaushalya Dissanayake, both experienced NHS GPs with decades of frontline patient care. Their work with diverse, multicultural communities revealed a recurring issue: increasing cases of lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and hypertension. These conditions are often managed with medication but seldom addressed through meaningful lifestyle changes.
Despite an ever-growing list of prescriptions, patients continued to struggle with fatigue, side effects, rising healthcare costs, and a deep sense of frustration. What was missing wasn’t more medicine - it was a new way forward.
